In case of tuition fee paid, a rebate can be claimed under 80C and there are no restrictions in the said provision related to the 6th Pay Commission. A children's education allowance received is exempt from tax to the extent of Rs. 100 per month per child upto a maximum of 2 children. To the extent that a tax exemption is claimed for the allowances it is recommended to not claim a deduction under 80C and to restrict the deduction under 80C to whatever is pent over and above what is already exempt as an allowance.
